Lord Shiva is known as the destroyer among the Holy Trinity(Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva) of Hinduism. Lord Shiva is known to be easily angered and even more easily appeased. Together, they are known as the universal couple. Lord Shivas family consists of Lord Ganesha, Lord Kartikeya/Murugan and Lord Ayyapa as sons.
Lord Shiva is mentioned as mrityunjaya or the one who has victory over death. Lord Shiva has been known to be worshipped even before the advent of temples.
